UCA (Urban Cultural Asylum) is a proposal to stimulate meaningful cultural interaction between political refugees residing in the Netherlands by strategically relocating refugee centers in more densely populated urban area’s. Dutch refugee centres are often situated in rural parts of the country, a policy that causes serious problems in the local communities and vice versa to the refugees who are not stimulated to be part of and learn about their new environment.
UCA’s are a new type of refugee centre that stimulate cultural exchange between local residents and refugees by creating a platform for them to meet and have meaningful cultural interaction.
